The Kersenbaan is a new road from the A28 towards the city centre of Amersfoort. A Virtual Scale Model was created to provide local inhabitants a good impression of the road and tunnel and make the possible variants more comprehensible. In the Virtual Scale Model, both the existing and the different plans for the situation have been implemented. While freely navigating through the model, the different alternatives can be switched with the push of a button.
"We have a very positive experience with the Virtual Scale Model for the project in Amersfoort.", says Mark Verberkt, External Project Leader at the Municipality of Amersfoort. "Both officials, Mayor and councillors as local inhabitants have reacted in a very enthusiastic way to this instrument. It has provided more support for the project during the development phase."
Liesbeth Meerwaldt, External Project Leader at the Municipality of Amersfoort as well, approves. "The Virtual Scale Model is easy to handle and has sufficient detail. The houses, railway track and even the grass are based on real photos. Local inhabitants have praised the model, and that was obviously our goal. The model is truely superb!"
